Janis Kirstein is a Visual Artist as well as a writer. Her visual art includes painting, photography, and drawing.
She has exhibited her work around the globe and she was included in the first International Nano Art Exhibit in Finland. This was an exhibit of artists working with electron microscope images as a basis for creative exploration which was reviewed in the New York Times.
She has exhibited her work in Japan, South Korea, Spain, Peru and Austria, as well as in many places all over the United States.
She taught Visual art at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Indiana University , University of Louisville and Kentucky State and now currently teaches at Western Hills High School in Frankfort,
Janis is also a writer. She began writing professionally in 1979 when she was the Art Critic for the Courier-Journal newspaper in Louisville, Kentucky.
